Finland: Visiting Makerspaces
Exploring the Finnish maker culture and creative spaces.
In late 2023, I traveled to Finland to visit a variety of makerspaces and creative hubs. My goal was to learn more about the Finnish approach to open workshops, digital fabrication, and community-driven innovation. Each space had its own unique atmosphere, but all shared a strong sense of collaboration and curiosity.
I was especially impressed by the integration of technology and sustainability in many Finnish makerspaces. From upcycling projects to advanced electronics labs, the focus was always on learning by doing and sharing knowledge. The people I met were welcoming and eager to exchange ideas about everything from 3D printing to woodworking.
These visits inspired me to bring some of the Finnish spirit back to my own projects. I gained new perspectives on how to foster creativity and inclusion in maker communities, and I look forward to future collaborations with my new friends in Finland.
